Our Values

Artisanal craftsmanship, premium materials, small-batch precision.

Natural materials, mindful sourcing, make‑few/keep‑long.

Prints made by plants, forms guided by feline anatomy.

Our ethos

Born from daily adventures with Kepler Copernicus (a very opinionated Russian Blue), House Copernicus began as a quest for dignified, comfortable gear and beds—using natural materials and low-impact processes—to respect a cat’s grace. Where mass-market options feel plasticky or gimmicky—with chemical-intensive processes, industrial finishing, and cutesy styling—we chose art, science, and slow fashion instead.

In practice, our pieces combine design and quality craftsmanship to elevate ordinary cat fashion and accessories into works of art. We encourage individuality and creativity by offering unique, one-off, artisanal pieces that stand out from the masses. We prioritise durable, natural materials that age beautifully and don’t read as disposable. We source locally whenever feasible, to support local communities and small businesses. This approach offers a refreshing perspective that prioritises quality, creativity and sustainability while celebrating the inherent elegance and functionality of clothing and accessories as wearable art for cats.

Bows & Harnesses

Every bow and harness embodies an expression of functional artistry, Curated with care and attention to detail, each has its own personality and style, poised to complement and enhance the wearer’s individuality.

Fashioned from sustainably harvested kangaroo leather/suede, infused with natural dyes, and adorned with permanenet prints of ethically sourced plants and flowers, each piece tells a story of sophisticated elegance. Lined with luxurious millinery ribbon for unparalleled comfort and adorned with brass hardware that echoes our commitment to sustainability, each creation stands as a unique testament to our values.

Each is named after a celestial object and assigned a unique serial number.

Thrones

‘Thrones’ are double-sided, eco-printed kangaroo suede anatomical cat beds with panels carefully matched and crafted from four hides. Each piece carries permanent, plant-made botanical prints—flip it to change the look. A concealed zip keeps the profile clean, while two sturdy handles balance the weight for easy lift. Inside sits 3.75 kg of premium buckwheat hulls; we intentionally overfill so the nest feels luxuriously high at first, and you can remove a little through the zip if you prefer a lower, softer settle. Fair warning: you’ll be fighting your cat for this one.

Buckwheat hulls’ natural air channels keep the bed breathable, they mould to your cat’s shape for even support, then spring back so it holds form better than loose fibre fills. They make a soft calming rustle; they’re refillable over time and compostable at end of life. Shake to refresh, wipe with a damp cloth, brush with a suede brush; the rest takes care of itself.

Each is named after a star and assigned a unique serial number.

How it’s made—the process

  1. Gather & arrange botanicals—rehydrate and compose pressed/dried botanicals on mordanted hide.
  2. Eco-print & dye—add natural dye blankets; wrap and steam bundles so pigments and tannins bond into permanent, plant-made prints.
  3. Curate, cut & craft—compose bow-tie sections; cut to maximise yield; laminate, line and top-stitch straps; hand-stitch bows; polish and protect leather.
  4. Assemble & fit—fit hardware; assemble H-style; attach bow; hush the buckle; quality-check throughout.
  5. Name, record & package—fit logo disc; photograph and catalogue; assign a celestial name and unique serial number; set to shortest position; polish and pack.

FAQ

How do I choose a size?
Measure neck and chest at the widest points. Choose the size that allows a comfy two-finger gap. Between sizes? Pick based on build. Check the Fit & Size Guide.

How do I measure?
Neck: base of the neck where a collar sits. Chest: just behind the front legs. Shoulder: from the collar to below the shoulder blades. Keep the tape snug, not tight. Our measurements are in cm. Check the Fit & Size Guide.

Will it fit fluffy or short-haired cats?
Yes. The H-style keeps the chest free and adjusts at neck and chest to sit over fluff.

Between sizes or unusual proportions (chunky neck/narrow chest)?
Both straps are generously adjustable. If you’re unsure, get in touch.

For kittens?
No. Our harness is too bulky for kittens. Kittens grow fast; wait until around 10 months—this is when most cats’ growing is done.

Weight of the harness
~100 g (mid-range for cat harnesses). Comfort comes from fit and balance, not just grams: the H-style spreads load across neck and chest; thin kangaroo leather flexes, allowing unrestricted movement; brass adds polish without bulk. For a 5 kg cat, ~100 g ≈ 2% of body weight. It’s important to pair the harness with good things and progress in tiny, successful steps so the cat’s response class shifts from avoidance to approach. See our Size Guide.

Why an H-style harness?
Cats groom—a lot. The H-style leaves chest, shoulders, and belly largely open, so grooming stays easy. Simple straps keep movement unrestricted. Minimal coverage feels close to wearing nothing at all—better airflow, cooler in summer.

Commissions & custom sizing
Yes—at limited times of the year. Lead time is up to 12 weeks. Custom orders attract an additional cost.

Is it breakaway?
No. This is a walking harness, not a breakaway collar. Supervised use only.

Where do I clip the leash?
Clip to the D-ring on the shoulder strap. Use a standard, non-retractable leash for steady control.

Can my cat wear it all day?
While Kepler can wear a harness for a whole week on road trips, a harness is a functional piece, so we don’t recommend wearing it unless it’s being used for its intended purpose. Fit for outings and training, then remove at home or when unsupervised.

How do I introduce it safely?

  1. Let your cat sniff it; reward.
  2. Fit for 3–5 min indoors; reward. Never remove the harness while your cat flops or rolls—wait for a calm response, then remove. Otherwise you teach that flopping makes it come off.
  3. Add short, calm walks; increase time gradually.

Is it escape-proof?
We don’t claim any harness is escape-proof. However, H-style harnesses are considered among the best designs for escape artists. Proper fit + calm, gradual training give the best security. If your cat reverses or “pancakes,” pause and reset. Never pull.

Retractable leashes?
Not recommended—sudden tension encourages bolting, and tension leads can cause ducking and awkward angles. Our harness comes with a handle-less 2 m marine-rope leash that’s light, thin, glides easily, coils into a neat bundle, and looks the part. Handle-less because if your cat runs up a tee, the lead won’t snag, and it excellent for traning recall, follow, and other skills whilst dropped and dragged.

Water & weather?
Rain is fine; remove and air-dry after. Avoid swimming or soaking. Don’t store damp.

Buckle noise?
We hush the buckle with soft felt dots to keep things quiet and less startling.

Nervous or senior cats?
Go slower. Keep sessions short, quiet, and reward-rich. Comfort and confidence first; distance second.

Indoor-only cats?
Great for carrier training, balcony time (securely netted), and stroller practice—always supervised.

Any allergies from botanicals or dyes?
Pigments are bonded within the leather during steaming—no loose plant matter sits on the surface. The leather is thoroughly washed and neutralised after eco-printing. We also had a sample tested by Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e.V. (PFI, Germany) to check for Chromium VI after steaming. Result: Chromium VI < 3.0 mg/kg — Limit Pass under EU REACH Annex XVII (DIN EN ISO 17075-2:2017; test date 26 Jul 2024). View the test report →

Why kangaroo leather?
Remarkable strength-to-weight lets the harness stay slim yet durable. Sourced from reputable Australian suppliers for quality and consistency.

Sourcing & sustainability
We source from an LWG-certified tannery (current Silver rating) with solar on site, a chemical testing program, and continuous water recycling of ≥40% in production.

Wild-harvest, not farmed
Kangaroos used for leather are harvested in the wild from large, self-replenishing populations—no land clearing. Only the four common species are eligible. Skins are a by-product of the food industry.

Government-managed quotas
Commercial harvest runs under state management plans approved within Australia’s federal Wildlife Trade framework (EPBC Act). Quotas are set annually by species and zone from population surveys and reported publicly (e.g., NSW/SA/Vic programs).

Abundance & conservation
Australia’s kangaroo populations are abundant (well over 30 million nationally), and long-term studies referenced by Packer report no adverse effect on the four harvested species over ~40 years of managed use. Recent state quota papers also note population increases in certain regions.

What is eco-printing?
Pressed botanicals are laid on mordanted kangaroo leather, then steamed so natural pigments and tannins bond into the fibres—plant-made prints, not paint.

Are two pieces ever identical?
No. Each print is one-of-one and catalogued with a celestial name and unique serial number. Because each piece is handmade, small freckles, imperfections or tonal variations are natural, and not faults. We consider these part of each item’s unique charm—not imperfections.

Will the print fade or rub off?
It’s bonded within the leather, not surface-painted. Expect a gentle patina with sun and years of adventure. Avoid soaking; don’t scrub abrasively.

What hardware do you use?
Solid brass for strength and longevity. It will develop a warm patina; polish lightly to brighten.

How do I clean it?

  • Wipe with a barely damp cloth.
  • Use a mild leather cleaner sparingly; test on an inconspicuous spot first.
  • Air-dry in the shade; keep away from heaters and direct sun.

Caught in the rain?
Pat dry, reshape, and air-dry. If exposed to salt or chlorinated water, wipe with a damp cloth, then dry.

Conditioning the leather
Occasionally apply a small amount of neutral leather balm to keep straps supple. Avoid over-conditioning and keep balm off stitching and hardware. On suede, use a protector spray (no balm). We like Renapur Leather Balsam (smooth leather) and Renapur Suede & Fabric Protector for a gentle, low-odour option.

Colour transfer on fur or clothes?
No. The colour is bonded within the leather.

Storage
Store clean and dry in the provided box to help the bow hold its shape. Ensure the harness is fully dry before boxing.

When will my order ship?
Within 7 business days (Mon–Fri, VIC time). You’ll get tracking by email.

Do you ship internationally? Duties/taxes?
Yes. International duties/taxes are the buyer’s responsibility. We can’t mark parcels as ‘gift.’ Shipping fees are non-refundable.

Change of mind—can I return it?
Stock items only. Request a Return Approval (RA) within 7 days of delivery, for unworn/unused items only. Approved returns receive store credit or exchange (you can choose Adventure Cat Academy services). Buyer pays return shipping.

What counts as ‘unworn/unused’?
For hygiene and scent reasons, once a harness has been placed on a cat it’s ineligible. Returns must arrive in original packaging and pass these checks:
• No fur or odour (pet, smoke, perfume)
• No slider compression lines or burnished ‘shine’ on straps
• No creasing at strap folds, stretching, or edge fraying
• Hardware unscratched/untarnished
• Bow profile intact; packaging tidy and dry
Returns showing wear are refused or sent back at the buyer’s expense.

How do I start a return? What’s an RA?
Email staff@mrbeauty.co within 7 days with order #, serial, reason, and close up photos of the harness. If approved, we’ll issue your RA and return address.

Are custom commissions returnable?
No—bespoke/custom pieces are final sale.

My parcel arrived damaged (DOA).
Email us within 48 hours with photos of the outer box, inner packaging, and the item (serial number e.g. A99). We’ll assess and arrange a replacement or a return, as appropriate.

What’s the warranty?
12 months workmanship covering stitching failure, hardware/rivet failure, and delamination under normal, supervised use. Excludes chewing/scratching, water/chemical damage, heat/sun, misuse (tie-outs/unsupervised wear), or third-party alterations. We repair or replace at our discretion.
